Off to Cincinnati...

Whenever someone learns I work for an airline, they always ask...can you fly for free? It's actually very expensive to fly these days...even on a FREE ticket. How much is YOUR time worth? As an airline employee you travel "standby"...ever done that? Next time you're in an airport gate area...look for the best dressed travelers who are constantly focusing on the GIDS ( gate information display screen), they'll all have the same nervous expression...they will be counting in their heads...trying to determine if there will be any leftover seats to accommodate them. You do your best to study availability...and after 29 years, you know which days are better than others...but then unexpectedly...a flight cancels...the one flight you had counted on gets completely booked with the customers who were inconvenienced by the cancellation....and so it goes.

Tomorrow morning, Papa, Hannah and I will be the best dressed travelers, with the nervous expressions...hoping and praying to get up to Cincinnati. If you think of us...say a little prayer. We don't try PARIS or any exotic destination...just Cincinnati please....3 seats...so we can visit family and see the Cincinnati REDS play baseball.
