Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue and if there be any praise, think on these things.

History

Something just occurred to me, and occasionally you all "ramble"...so here goes. It just occurred to me that once you have lived 50 plus years...you know a lot of HISTORY. Stop laughing. As a young girl I never enjoyed HISTORY. I remember classes...American History, The History of Ancient Civilization, Art History, anyway....I am becoming an Historian. I never would have thought so.
I dreaded those classes and now I know so many Jeopardy answers.

Is it the same for Geography?

you probably enjoy history because it has context. it happened while you were alive.
the challenger is history, but has context for me. i was home sick that day and heard about it on the radio and watched it on the news. i just remember being mad that i wasn't at school because they all watched it together. i guess it has always been "all about me"

Yes, context. I just have A LOT MORE CONTEXT!
President Kennedy Assassination was the biggest for me. I WAS at school. I was in 7th Grade Math Class. I will never forget that.

I remember the Challenger. They always made us go out on the playground and watch the little orange line in the sky which they told us was the shuttle launching. That day, we were on the playgroud but is was a bit different. I remember the teachers all being so upsetand they brought a TV into the classroom. Very sad day.
For our kids, the biggie of course will be 9/11. Where were you on that day?

Robin, you are so insightful and hilarious...you're wrong though...it's all about me.

9/11; Josh was home from work, a friend called to tell us to turn on the tv and we saw the second impact and then they both fell down.
I remember driving up to a playground the day the Columbia took off and being so moved by the prayer the captain prayed before it took off and then seeing it take off up in the cloudless blue sky...that was the shuttle that exploded over Texas.

9/11
i was at MOPS and the coordinator got up and said, let's pray for our country, we are under attack. i was thinking, yeah, we are under attack, but is MOPS really the place to be bringing this up? it took us all a few mintues to realize what was really going on.

on 9/11 I was at work (in a dental office). We had TV's in the operatories and they were on when the news started streaming in. My boss, the patient and I were discussing how silly the pilot was for getting so close to those buildings on such a clear day. Then we saw the 2nd plane's inpact live and we knew it was big.

I'm so jealous you are going to "Move That Bus". Blogging doesn't get much better than that! Have fun!

Alright, I guess I should have read the other comments before posting my oh-so-shallow comment about Ty.....

My mother-in-law called me and woke me up. She told me there had been a terrilbe accident and the first thing I thought was, "This must have been some accident if she heard about it in Florida." I thought Eric had been in an accident on his way to Seminary class. You know how disoriented you are when you first get up? Then I turned on CNN and saw the Twin Towers blazing. Michael was only 4 months old!
